Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Kate Markell LLC ("I," "me," "my") collects, uses, and protects your information when you visit katemarkell.com, book a session, join a program, or join my email list.

What I collect

  • Contact information: your name, email address, and time zone, when you book a call, enroll, or sign up for emails.

  • Booking and enrollment details: the sessions or programs you choose and your scheduling information.

  • Payment information: payments are processed by Stripe. I don't see or store your full card number.

  • Intake information: for programs and readings, your answers to my intake questions and a photo you provide, used only to prepare your reading.

  • Health and personal information you choose to share: some intake questions are optional and may touch on your body, health, or life circumstances. Share only what you're comfortable with.

  • Session and program notes: notes I keep from your sessions, and written materials I prepare for you.

  • Recordings and transcripts: sales calls, individual sessions, and group program calls may be recorded and transcribed, with your knowledge.

  • Messages: if you contact me through Instagram direct messages, including automated replies through ManyChat, I receive what you send there.

  • Website data: my website, hosted by Squarespace, may collect basic information such as your browser type, pages visited, and approximate location through cookies and analytics.

How I use your information

  • To provide sessions, readings, and programs you've requested

  • To schedule, process payments, and communicate with you

  • To send emails you've signed up for. You can unsubscribe anytime.

  • To improve my website and offerings

  • To meet legal and tax obligations

I do not sell your information, and I don't share it for anyone else's marketing.

Your photo and personal details

The photo and intake answers you provide are used only to prepare your reading and support you in the program. They are not shared with other members or posted anywhere.

Recordings and testimonials

Individual sessions and sales calls: recordings and transcripts are for my use in preparing your notes and follow-up, and are shared only with you.

Group program calls: recordings are shared only with members of that group. I will never use a clip of you outside the group without your permission, and you can opt out of appearing in any clips.

Testimonials: ratings, quotes, or videos are shared only with your permission, in the form you agree to (for example, first name only or anonymous).

I may draw on common themes from my work in my teaching, but never in a way that identifies you.

Who helps me run my business

I use trusted service providers who process information on my behalf, including:

  • Squarespace: website and email

  • Calendly: scheduling

  • Stripe: payments

  • Google Workspace: email, forms, and file storage

  • Zoom: live sessions and recordings

  • Fathom and Otter: call recording and transcription

  • Circle: the program community and course content

  • Instagram and ManyChat: direct messages

  • Claude, an AI assistant made by Anthropic: help preparing notes and written materials (see below)

They receive only what they need to provide their service. I may also disclose information if required by law.

AI assistance

I use Claude, an AI assistant made by Anthropic, to help me organize session transcripts and notes and prepare written materials for you, such as session summaries and practice guides. I review everything before it reaches you, and the readings, insights, and guidance are my own. Your information is used only to support your work with me. If you'd prefer that your information not be used with AI tools, just let me know and I'll prepare your materials without them.

How long I keep it

I keep your information for as long as you're working with me, and afterward as needed for records, taxes, and legal purposes. Video and audio recordings of calls are deleted within one month. Written transcripts are kept for up to one year after our work together ends, to support your follow-up and continuity of care, and to help me develop my teaching (drawing only on themes, never on anything that identifies you), then deleted. Intake photos are deleted within 90 days after your program ends, unless you ask me to keep them. Written materials I prepare for you may be kept as part of your client record. You can ask me to delete your information at any time, except where I'm required to keep it.

Your choices and rights

You can ask to see, correct, or delete the information I hold about you, or ask me to stop using it. You can unsubscribe from emails using the link in any email. If you live in the UK or European Union, you have additional rights under data protection law, including the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

Security

I use reputable platforms and take reasonable care to protect your information. No system is completely secure, but I limit access to your information to what's needed to work with you.

International clients

I'm based in the United States. If you're outside the U.S., your information will be processed and stored in the U.S. and by the service providers listed above.

Age

My services are intended for adults 18 and older. I don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

Changes

I may update this policy from time to time. The effective date at the top shows when it last changed.
